BIO:  **Jerry needs to be in a home with other pets and a fenced yard**

My name is Jerry #2 and I am 3 years old!  I was surrendered to AADR from County Animal Center in Franklin, TN.  AADR thinks I came from an abusive one-dog home.  I was a little timid and skittish when I first was surrendered, but I am becoming more trusting and friendly since I have been in my new Foster Home.

My Foster Mom has lots of other Dachshunds for me to interact with.  I am learning to play, run freely in a secure fenced yard, and I love going in/out the doggie door when I want to go outside.  My Foster Mom has lots of company - I bark at squirrels and when meeting strangers for the 1st time.  I warm up easily and jump on their laps for hugs and attention though!

I have no food or fear aggression, nor submissive urination.  I am housebroken to a doggie door and enjoy sleeping in the BIG bed, when allowed.  I do have a small issue with separation anxiety - I love to chew on things that lay around in sight.  My Foster Mom thinks my separation anxiety is due to possible fear of her not coming back or being “alone”.  This has improved since I feel more secure in my Foster Home.

I am looking for my forever home... an experienced family with another pet in the home and a fenced yard.  I need a family who is patient, will help me learn my social skills, and will teach me all the “doggie” things I need to learn.

AADR wants what’s best for me, so they feel a Dachshund savvy home would better fit my needs.  AADR thinks I need to be in a home with other pets and a fenced yard.  I still need work on my social skills.

Please, open up your heart and home to me and I will learn to love you and be your BEST FRIEND FOREVER given the chance!

=============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI, NH, ME or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
